September POWerful Words – LEADERSHIP – Week 4
Say, as a leader, we have to make a lot of choices each day– what to do, what to say, when to work and when to play. It can be hard to make good choices. How do we know when we are making the right choice (i.e. listen to gut, talk to mentor)? There are ways to make choosing easier. One way is weighing pros & cons and another is playing the “what if” game. (1) Pros & Cons: Does anyone know what that means (i.e. good vs bad of a choice). So, let’s say “Joe” had to pick a team for a game in class. He can either choose the most athletic person or his best friend first. What are the pros and cons of choosing the athletic person? His friend? Have you ever used pros/cons? (2) What IF? You can play the “what if” game to make a choice. So, you
need a high mark on a test. What if I study? What if I don’t? What if I get help? How can YOU use this?
If you have time: Do Pros and cons or the What IF game for: (1) Saving your money (2) Cheating on a test
