May POWerful Word – INTEGRITY – Week 4
Who knows what “empathy” means (i.e. taking a walk in other people’s shoes, imagining how they feel)? How can having empathy for others make it more likely that you will show integrity? Let’s talk about empathy and integrity: (1) You see your friend cheating off someone else’s test in school. Who could be hurt by this situation (i.e. the friend if she gets caught, the classmate because someone is stealing her answers, the teacher)? If you don’t speak up and show integrity, what might happen? What should you do? (2) You see someone bullying a younger student at school. Who would be the most hurt by this situation? If you don’t speak up and show integrity, what might happen? (3) You see someone cheating in competition. Who would be most hurt? What might happen if nobody speaks up? What should be done? We need to show integrity!
