February POWerful Word – IMPULSE CONTROL – Week 3
Everyone makes mistakes. Sometimes we do the first thing that pops into our heads and we regret it. When we make a mistake, what’s the first thing we need to do? Apologize with sincerity- meaning, apologize like you mean it! Like what? Like you mean it! Is it easy to apologize? Is screaming “SORRY!” an okay way to apologize? Whether we did something by accident or we just made a bad choice, we need to admit what we did wrong and say we’re sorry. Remember ABC. For example, “(1) I Apologize/I’m sorry for ripping the book (2) Because I should have been more careful & it was important to you (3) Can I fix it/make it better by taping it or getting you another? Sincerely apologize if you: (1) Yell at a friend; (2) Spill juice (3) Take something that doesn’t belong to you.
If you have time: When have you apologized? How did that make you feel? Did it make things better?
