This week’s Monday Miyagi comes to us courtesy of Kyoshi Steve LaVallee. My Kenpo instructor at Syracuse University, Mr. Phil Benedict, was one of Mr. LaVallee’s 1st Black Belts at his original school in Syracuse, NY. Mr. LaVallee now teaches out of his USA Black Belts headquarter school in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Like Mr. Kovar, he is a mentor to many, many school owners and instructors. Enjoy!
Habits of Excellence!
“Men are anxious to improve their circumstances, but are unwilling to improve themselves, they therefor remain bound.” — James Allen.
Why not make excellence your habit? Wouldn’t it be great to lead a life filled with excellence? It’s been said mediocrity is the enemy of excellence. Mediocrity or excellence? You choose. Either one can become habit for life.
If you accept mediocrity in your own performance and the people you influence, that’s the start of developing the habit of mediocrity and you’ll be destined to accept a mediocre life. However, if you expect excellence from yourself, in your performance and results, you’ll be laying the foundation for an excellent life. Expect the best from yourself and those you influence, that is what you’ll get.
Whichever you choose, it will be the start of a habit. Why? Because anything that you do repeatedly, over and over again, is bound to be become habit… that’s just the way it is.
Visualize a life of excellent health, wealth and happiness.
Excellent health would give you greater energy to train and do the things you want to do each day, and allow you to accomplish more each year. Looking and feeling fit, toned and flexible, with energy to burn. Excellence in wealth would free you from financial worry and concern. Allowing you more choices and opportunities to learn, grow, achieve and and have more fun in life. Excellence in happiness would mean that you are happy with who you are, what you are, where you are going, and the relationships and people you are surrounded by everyday. You’d be smiling, singing, whistling, humming and/or laughing…more than 95{1d96d231ab15286cc2909578709a2dba1f05c1bc2821770822e5433a4504f686} of the people on the planet. This is what happens when you develop habits of excellence.
You can start by displaying an attitude of excellence, giving excellent polite greetings and doing excellent push ups. Practice having an excellent smile and share it with as many people as you can. Strive for excellent results in everything you do, go the extra mile to create a better outcome in every area of your life.
Aim for Excellence: Expect the best from yourself in regards to your energy level and your ability to perform like a peak performance Black Belt Champion.
Get Healthy and Fit…Stay Healthy and Fit…Never Quit!
This week’s Health and Fitness Tip: Massive Hydration.
Your body needs water and water rich foods, such as fruits and veggies. Don’t wait until your thirsty, because it may be too late. Studies indicate that as much as 2/3 of the population is suffering from dehydration. About the same {1d96d231ab15286cc2909578709a2dba1f05c1bc2821770822e5433a4504f686} as the number of overweight people walking around everyday. Hmmm…any correlation?
To maintain your best energy level and avoid fatigue and/or headaches, which are common signs of dehydration, you should drink about half your body weight in ounces each day.
Simply meaning, I weigh about 210 lbs, which means I should drink at least 105 ounces of water every day. Combine this with eating lot’s water rich foods. Fresh fruits, vegetables and salads are a great way to keep your energy at a peak. Besides great energy, it’s one of the best ways to lose weight, maintain a leaner body mass and fight off disease. Especially common colds and flu’s that most people commonly attract.
By making these simple tips part of your daily regimen, you’ll see that you feel better, look better and perform better in everything you focus on throughout your day. Daily exercise, combined with smart nutritional habits will soon have you feeling like and looking like the Black Belt Champion you dream of being.
Train Hard…Live with Energy, Passion and Purpose!
