August POWerful Word – COMPASSION – Week 3
Who here has a pet or knows someone who does? Do pets have feelings? When it comes to our pets, how do we know how they are feeling? Current research shows that at least some animals likely feel a full range of emotions, including fear, joy, happiness, shame, embarrassment, resentment, jealousy, rage, anger, love and more! So how do we show compassion to our pets? Why is it important to show compassion to our pets when they can’t really talk to us (i.e. they rely on us to take care of them, we love them, they can’t talk so we need to get the help they need for them)? Now think of the animals who are part of our Earth. Some are losing their homes, some are suffering due to pollution and others are becoming endangered or extinct. How can we show compassion for the animals on our Earth? Why is it important to show compassion for the animals in all areas of our Earth (i.e. balance, we must because animals can’t)? How can you show compassion for the animals in your life or around your home?
If you have time: If you saw someone being cruel to animals, what would you say/do? What did you think?
